Shades of Yellow

For the most part, anyone who knows me, knows that yellow is one of my favorite colors. Things in my office are usually of the yellow variety: sharpies, electrical tape, sticky notes, tissue box, file folders, etc. My cup at the studio is yellow.

I’m sure if I could reasonably incorporate a pop of yellow into every room of my house, I would.

I feel like it is such a fun and versatile color (from mustard to sunshine yellow, to highlighter to school bus yellow), and it’s often underused. The varying shades of it make it perfect for any season of the year (in my humble opinion, haha). Sometimes I will advocate for yellow around the studio as well… the pillows on the client couch or even in our photos. Last week, we had a mac & cheese themed shoot, and we actually got everyone on board with creating some entirely yellow scenes (from the surface to the plateware to the food). Hopefully we’ll be able to share those with y’all soon!

In the meantime though, I decided to go through our archive and pull some “yellow” shots, if you will. Typically one does not think of yellow-colored food as appetizing, but we have some pretty inventive clients and talented food stylists who create wonderful yellow masterpieces sometimes. All of these pictures make me smile. 🙂
