Soups and Sandwiches

I should know better than to do a blog post during lunch on a day when I brought my sad brown bag lunch to the studio. Such is the exotic life of a food photographer. Ha! The image of the sandwiches and soups is something we did a while back for Cracker Barrel’s website. Lovely food styling by Teresa Blackburn and Whitney Kemp. (“Lovely” is a word I’m comfortable writing in a blog post, but I don’t know that I’d say it out loud…unless I were being sarcastic. I’m being sincere in this case. I just wanted to clarify.) – Kyle

Colorful Peppers

We had some fun in the studio with these beautiful peppers. By “fun” we mean organizing things neatly then messing them up. Food photography doesn’t always have to be an image of a recipe or of something baked or grilled. Sometimes it’s just something edible organized neatly. That’s fun to us. What’s fun to you? Latin American Flavors

If you’re like me you know that flank steak is often used in Latin American dishes. So, how about some with Chimichurri sauce. We photographed this particular food department for Diabetes Forecast magazine.

Soup Pots of Gold

I don’t think I knew what “potage” was until we shot this feature for the American Diabetes Association membership magazine. Basically it’s a thick hearty stew. That’s the kind of soup I like…but now I can be specific and just ask for potage. Food styling by Whitney Kemp.

Coast to Coast Holiday Food

Here are a few editorial spreads we did for a regular client for their holiday issue. Funny thing is, we shoot holiday features in September most of the time. That means by the time Thanksgiving comes around we’ve had out fair share of turkey and other holiday foods. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a glutton on Thanksgiving day. In this case, these recipes were more of a non-traditional approach and themed by regions…Midwest, West Coast, Northeast and South. Exceptional food styling by Whitney Kemp.
